André Rieu: "Linda is Carnival Princess of Maastricht!"

Sun 29 Jan 2017

As you know, Maastricht has a long tradition of celebrating Carnival. Each year in January, a new Prince and Princess Carnival are chosen. It is a big event where the whole city of Maastricht looks forward to for weeks, in great excitement. And guess what? This year our violist Linda and her husband Jerome became the new happy royal couple!

We just arrived by plane from Nuremberg, so a lot of the members of the orchestra were gathered at the square along with the entire population of Maastricht. And of course Andre was there too! A moment to cherish and celebrate! Will you all join us for Carnival in Maastricht this year?

Nuremberg - Sat 28 Jan 2017

André Rieu & JSO : "Our last concert this week we played in Nuremberg. Tomorrow we fly home for a few days, and there are some rumors in the orchestra that a very nice surprise might await us in Maastricht when we arrive :)

Mannheim - Thu 26 Jan 2017

André Rieu: " We had a great audience in the SAP Arena in Mannheim. We played 'Falling in Love' and after the concert our busses drove to our hotel in a place where we all fell in love before: Heidelberg. Remember our special there eight years ago? "I lost my heart in Heidelberg". So nice to be back again! "

Saarbrucken - Wed 25 Jan 2017

André Rieu & JSO : "In Saarbrücken, where we played today, all walls are covered with posters from artists that played here since the Seventies. We saw a lot of friends that also played with our orchestra during the past years, like Vicky Leandros and Heino. On the first picture you see one of the most important people in our show, that has been traveling with us for decades now, but seldom in the spotlights: our sound engineer Wim van der Molen! Saarbrücken - What a concert evening! Stargeiger André Rieu (67) yesterday sparked rapturous storms in the crowded Saarlandhalle.

There was darkened, clapped, laughed and sung, what the stuff holds. On the stage: a good-humored Rieu, who presented his skills on his nearly 300-year-old Stradivari.

"I am looking forward to a whole evening with music", the violinist greeted his guests. "Music brings people together, wherever they are."

With on stage: the gigantic Johann Strauss Orchestra . With him, Rieu presented melodies from 150 years of musical history: arias, folk songs, pop songs, musical melodies, film hits - and of course his beloved waltzes!

There were also "On the beautiful blue Danube" and "G'schichten from the Wienerwald" of his great example Johann Strauss could not be missing. At the success camp "The small pub", the Saarlanders even voted in, sang loudly.

The musician jokingly said: "I have already been told that the most musical audience in the world lives in Saarbrücken."

At the end it was enthusiastic applause for the success of musicians - and for an unforgettable evening!
